Samsara’s Telematics allows fleets to go beyond GPS tracking. Businesses can obtain real-time tracking for ontime deliveries, optimize fuel costs, maintain vehicle diagnostics, increase driver safety, automate workflows, and much more.

My journey at Samsara began with the inception of the Vehicle Gateway series. Iterations of VG32, VG33 and to VG34 occurred within a year. We listened to the customer and quickly implemented feedback.

VG34 is plug and play. Find the OBD port, plug in the device, add the serial to your dashboard and your good to go.

The product’s design and installation is intended to lower the barrier to use and keep our customers efficient.

VG34 provides GPS data and vehicle diagnostics. But the real power of Samsara is the complete device ecosystem and the Connected Operations Cloud. The gateway is the central communication hub to enable an array of sensors and accessories; either via bluetooth, USB, or IOs.

This allowed Samsara, as a business, to move laterally into new market verticals such as the dash camera CM series.

In final year at Samsara, I led the HW team to build the most powerful Vehicle Gateway yet, the VG54.

VG54 pays homage to the VG34 device architecture, with its own unique thermal challenges and cost constraints. It incorporated several years of RMA and customer feedback to improved on VG34.

The launch of VG54 navigated unprecedented supply chain challenges. The HW PD team worked closely cross functional members, overseas vendors and JDM partners to ensure inventory during high volume demands.

The VG series continues to delight customers and be a dominating force for the Samsara business.
